R-Drive Image captures partitions and whole disks into compressed image files while the system is running, using a snapshot driver to guarantee a consistent state. Images can be written to local drives, network shares or removable media, then verified, mounted as virtual disks or explored for individual file recovery.

A bootable startup version built from a USB stick or disc runs the same imaging engine without an installed operating system, which is the case that matters after a failed drive or unbootable machine. Differential and incremental chains, scheduled tasks and per-image encryption cover regular backup routines.
