Captivate 2026 builds courses on a slide timeline with separate layouts for desktop, tablet and phone, so one project covers several screen sizes. Recording a workflow produces an editable software simulation automatically, and the same capture can be published as a demo, a click-through training exercise or a scored assessment depending on the mode selected for each slide.

Quizzes support graded questions, partial scoring, branching feedback and survey slides, while interactive video, 360-degree scenes and slide overlays handle more visual formats. Narration is generated from text and can be edited or replaced, closed captions and alternative text are managed per slide, and finished projects are published to HTML5, SCORM 1.2 or 2004, and xAPI packages. The installation runs offline as a pre-activated build.

2. Run the setup executable as Administrator
3. Choose a custom destination and skip the sample projects
4. Launch Captivate and confirm activation in Help > About
